Using pNFS to Scale Out RHEL & KVM

A few weeks ago, I talked about “Storage Virtualization & Scaling Out Your KVM-based Virtual Infrastructure”. I want to expand on that theme, and I’ll probably do that several times over the next few months.  This time, I’ll focus a bit more on one of the specific ways that we can truly scale on demand with RHEL 6, KVM, & NetApp Clustered ONTAP using pNFS (Parallel NFS). oVirt Workshop at KVM Forum/LinuxCon 2012 Europe

I wanted to point out that there is another oVirt Workshop coming up, this time during LinuxCon Europe and KVM Forum in Barcelona. Unfortunately, I can’t make this one as I have conflicting events that week, but I want to help promote it just the same.

Why come to the workshop? The 3 big reasons to come to any oVirt Workshop are:

  • Learn more about oVirt and KVM in general
  • Learn how to contribute and get involved
  • Network with other like-minded folks and leaders in the community

The dates are November 7 through November 9 and you can browse the schedule of sessions at . If you’re already going to KVM Forum, try and make it to the oVirt Workshop.

Virtualizing Oracle 11g on RHEV 3.0 & NetApp

Last week, I had the pleasure of presenting at Red Hat’s mini-theater twice at Oracle Open World. I had a great week splitting my time between the Red Hat and NetApp booths. Since then, I’ve been asked multiple times to share my presentation of Deploying Oracle 11g on RHEV & NetApp, and while I have no issue with that, the embedded demos make it larger than most corporate email systems will allow in or out (mine included). Soooooooo.. I figured, why not just re-work it as a blog post? (warning, this post is a little longer than my other posts.. it didn’t feel right breaking this one up.)
